March Madness in New York City: More Than Just Basketball!
They say that March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb, but not in New York City! The month is “mad as a March hare” with exciting events throughout all 31 days. Even the weather can be mad sometimes: our last snowstorm of the season could be coating the streets in white, or the the sun can shine with all the heat of an early summer’s day.
With USA Guided Tours NY bus tours, though, you’ll never have to worry about the elements: our climate-controlled buses will keep you warm or cool no matter the weather, and our complimentary bottled water will keep you hydrated as you see the best of NYC’s sights both day and night.
NYC explodes with color in March. Starting on the 3rd, the New York Botanical Gardens in the Bronx hosts its 16th annual Orchid Show. If you’ve got a green thumb, be sure to go on Saturday or Sunday afternoons, when the NYBG staff demonstrate how to care for orchids. If you’re on an adults-only vacation, consider treating yourselves to one of the magical Orchid Evenings — a perfect date night with music, dance, and cocktails in the heated conservatory.
If you prefer to stay in Manhattan, then check out Macy’s annual flower show, starting on March 25th. This year’s theme is “Once Upon a Springtime” — if you can’t tell, we New Yorkers can’t wait for winter to be over! Millions visit the flagship store on Herald Square to gaze at the floral displays and themed gardens that make shopping at Macy’s even more fun than usual.
New York City is a city of opposites, so naturally the beauty of events like the flower shows — and places like the Dakota, Central Park, and the Flatiron Building that you’ll see on our award-winning daytime “Discover NY” bus tour — is balanced by the brawn of some of the best sporting events in the nation.
