We use luxury tour buses that are climate-controlled and offer comfortable and pleasant touring experience, as well as protection from weather elements. The maximum bus capacity is 33 passengers; however, for the sake of making our tours more intimate, the average group size is less than 30 guests.

We do our best to keep large, same-party groups together on the same bus, but please remember that the seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Once you claim your seats - they're reserved only for you for the duration of the tour.
Our smaller-capacity tour buses and vans do not have storage for accommodating carry-on bags. You're welcome to bring purses, briefcases, or backpacks for your tour.

If you have larger bags, you'll need to store them while touring with us. Please check with your hotel concierge or use a luggage storage service provided by independent companies throughout the city. If you need further assistance with this, please feel free to call us directly.

Helpful travel tips – brought to you by USA Guided Tours

Destinations like New York are amazing, but due to its incredibly changeable weather, it’s also really hard to pack for. No matter the season, if you’re taking a trip to the Big Apple, here are some indispensable packing tips.

Pack light, but pack layers
If you’re flying into NY, chances are you’re traveling with carry-on only. Pack layers, so you can take them off or put them on as you need them. And always, always bring a sweater or a jacket (even if the weather’s warm, the aircon will kill you).

Pack for casual days and dressier nights
New Yorkers like to dress up in the evening. Think about it: you’ll be sightseeing during the day but doing dinner and a Broadway show at night. No time to change? Dark jeans work well all day. Just bring a dressier top and change in a bathroom before your show.

Use a casual day pack, not a hiking backpack
Many New Yorkers use a casual backpack, messenger bag, or large tote handbag to carry around their daily essentials. Blend in and bring along your own day pack. Make sure it’s comfortable to wear all day, but please, don’t bring the hiking backpack. It most certainly won’t wear well from day to night!

Bring your most comfortable shoes
Carrie Bradshaw was wrong. There, we said it. You can’t walk around in Jimmy Choos. New York is big, really big, and the best way to take in the sites is walking. Wear comfortable sneakers or sandals during the day, or reap blisters on day two. Not keen on walking everywhere? Book one of our guided Day and Night NY tours which includes riding in our climate-controlled bus, now at 30% off!

Pack a compact rain jacket
There isn’t really one rainy season in NYC. It rains on and off throughout the year, so bringing a compact, easily packable rain jacket will save your bacon. Don’t bring an umbrella though, they just get in the way on the tightly packed streets of New York.

Obviously, you should also bring a portable charger, hand sanitizer, and a reusable water bottle. But the most important thing to pack is a sense of humor, a big smile when asking for directions, and a sense of wonder. New York is a majestic, bustling city, full to bursting with incredible sites, sounds, people and places. Just take it all in!
It can be hard to pick a tour in NYC—sometimes even to decide if you want to do a tour at all! But we’ve been helping travelers like you plan NYC visits for years, and we want to share some tips to help you choose tours in New York City.

First of all, keep your interests in mind.
If you’re not interested in the highlights but only want to visit art museums or find the best burger in the city, a New York bus tour along the best sights may not be for you. Some museums offer guided tours though, so you could look into that.

How much time do you have?
If your list of hotspots is two pages long but you’re only in NYC for a weekend, you may think you don’t have time for a tour. We’d always recommend one though! If you’re only visiting for a weekend, a bus tour is the best way to see many highlights in a shorter time. If you’re here longer, it’s a good way to get a feel for the city and ask your guide for their best recommendations.

How much of a deep-dive do you want to do?
Are you ok with just seeing the highlights, or do you want to explore the city on a deeper level, discovering everything the city has to offer?

A day time tour of New York is perfect for that first impression of the city. You get a sense of the city, and you can ask your guide all your questions, and they’ll be able to give you recommendations based on your interests.

To see the Big Apple from a whole different point of view, the night tour is a special experience. Ride around in a comfortable bus, and enjoy New York City’s bustling evenings.

And if you’d like to include other kinds of attractions, there’s always the option of a customized tour. It’s the perfect way to hand-craft every single moment of your tour to your desires and your schedule, with personalized routes and activities designed just for your group. Include those top burger restaurants you were looking for, or explore NYC’s best parks with a guide, or well...the sky’s the limit, really.

Historical and unique facts about New York City

Did know beneath New York City’s famous Waldorf Astoria Hotel is a secret subway platform? The platform, known as “Track 61”, has been closed for decades, but was used for various purposes starting in 1938 – such as a secret entryway for President Franklin D. Roosevelt to the hotel and even a fashion show venue in 1948. As for the Waldorf Astoria, the hotel was closed indefinitely back in February 2017 for a major revamp.
Did you know America’s first pizzeria opened in New York City? The historic site known as Lombardi’s Pizza first opened in 1905 and was originally located just a block away from its present location at the corner of Mott and Spring Street in Lower Manhattan. For reasons undisclosed, the business closed in 1984 but reopened in 1994 and has operated since. Today, Lombardi’s Pizza ranks 4 out of 5 stars on both TripAdvisor and Yelp with about 9,000+ total reviews.
  1. It may take some searching with over 8 million inhabitants, but more than 800 languages are spoken in the city! That means that it’s very likely at least one New Yorker will speak your native language.
  2. Times Square is named after the New York Times. It was originally called Longacre Square until the newspaper moved there in 1904.
  3. Looking forward to seeing some of those famous people of Walmart on your trip to New York City? You’ll have to save that for another trip because NYC doesn’t have any Walmarts!
  4. The city used to be called New Amsterdam after the Dutch colonized it. That’s why there are still a lot of names that come from the Dutch language. Brooklyn was named after the Dutch city of Breukelen, Harlem comes from the city of Haarlem, and Coney Island comes from Konijneneiland (or, in Old Dutch, Conyne Eylandt). And have you ever seen a musical on de Brede Weg (Broadway)?
  5. Honking your car is illegal in New York City. Unbelievable, right? It’s only allowed in the case of an emergency.
